Creating Traditions

This is our first true Christmas with littles. This will be our first Christmas eve, our first Christmas morning, our first Santa, and I AM IN LOVE! One of the things that has stood out to me the most is how easy it has been to create the traditions we want to carry out. Elf on the Shelf, of course, Reindeer Food, the live Nativity scene, matching pajama’s, watching the Grinch, making cookies. It’s all so incredibly important to me. The entire experience.

As I look back on my own childhood, I remember going to my Dad’s parents before Christmas. Shopping at the mall (which I NEVER got to do in my small town), riding horses, and spending time with my brother were my favorite memories. Then Christmas day I remember getting to go to my Mom’s parents. I remember getting to be surrounded by my cousins, my aunts and uncles, the love and the happiness. It was what was most important. I am praying that my children are able to feel the love and happiness that I felt most on Christmas day simply being surrounded by our family.
